Fulbright Service Week

01/18/2021 - 01/26/2021

Fulbrighters around the world engage in volunteer activities and make an impact on their host communities. Starting on January 18, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, we encourage Fulbright Program participants, alumni, and partners to give back to their communities.

This year, The Fulbright Program is providing opportunities for select Fulbright Foreign Students and Fulbright Visiting Scholars to learn about the importance of service and volunteerism in the United States. In collaboration with Amizade, a series of activities, including conversations and virtual service projects, will take place. These activities include community health and well-being projects with the Oglala Lakota people on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota; community development projects in the Appalachian region; and ecology and community programs with Caras con Causa in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Be sure to follow the Fulbright Program on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram this week for our virtual Fulbright Service Week campaign highlighting Fulbrighters who have engaged in volunteer and service projects. If you would like to share your experience volunteering while on Fulbright, use #Fulbright in your post and/or tag our accounts for a chance to be featured.

Connect with Fulbright and check back to learn more about the activities and features planned for the MLK Day of Service and for Fulbright Service Week.
