Navigating Blackness in the Western Hemisphere

06/24/2021, 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm EDT

What can we in Fulbright Western Hemisphere programs do to strengthen support for Black and Afrodescendant participants? How do we do this in a way that recognizes the systemic challenges of anti-Black racism and colorism that they may experience abroad, and also the knowledge and skills that Black and Afrodescendant grantees bring to the program?

Join us for Navigating Blackness in the Western Hemisphere, the first virtual panel in a Fulbright Western Hemisphere (WHA) series on issues of identity and inclusion. Hear from Black and Afrodescendant Fulbright alumni and current grantholders from across the Americas and the Caribbean who will share stories as to how they made sense of their identity during their Fulbright, how they found community and connection abroad, and what we can do to foster greater inclusion on Fulbright and in the international education space.  The panel will be in English with live subtitles on Zoom.
