Fulbright Awareness Week at the University of Florida: Teaching, Research and Service to Enhance the NGO sector of South Korea

Dr. Muthusami Kumaran, Associate Professor of Nonprofit Management in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, and 2019 U.S. Fulbright Scholar to South Korea, discusses his experience on the Fulbright Program and the impact of his work. Part of the University of Florida's Fulbright Awareness week, Dr. Kumaran will share his Fulbright teaching, research and outreach experiences, and provide some tips for faculty interested in pursuing Fulbright Scholar Awards.

Dr. Muthusami Kumaran earned doctoral degrees in Public Administration and in Urban & Public Affairs from the University of Madras (India) and the University of Louisville, respectively. His teaching, research & outreach roles at UF revolve around management capacity building for nonprofit organizations in the USA and NGOs in several
countries. He serves on the Boards of three Florida nonprofits and two international NGOs. He has trained more than 3000 nonprofit/NGO leaders in nine countries across the world.

Dr. Kumaran received a 2019-2020 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award with teaching and research assignments at Jeju National University, Jeju Island, South Korea. During his Fulbright tenure, he also worked with the U.S. Embassy – Seoul in enhancing management capacities of the NGO sector in South Korea.
