Fulbright Days: Celebrating Around the World

The Fulbright Program’s success is based on a sustained commitment to international bilateral partnerships and shared priorities. Throughout 2021, Fulbright Commissions, U.S. Embassies, Universities, and other Fulbright partners and supporters held Fulbright Days to celebrate the 75th anniversary with a wide and varied range of activities. In total, 66 countries and territories around the world celebrated the impact of Fulbright partnerships across the globe.

Fulbright Day: Mongolia – December 30

Fulbright Mongolia highlighted their amazing alumni and partners and their contributions to foster mutual understanding between the United States and Mongolia, share knowledge across communities, and improve lives around the world.

Fulbright Day: Saudi Arabia – December 29

Mission Saudi Arabia commemorated the Fulbright 75th anniversary through media outreach, social media posts, and alumni receptions to recognize Fulbright alumni achievements.

Fulbright Day: Poland – December 21

To celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Fulbright Program, Fulbright Poland presented a tribute concert honoring the life and memory of pianist and Fulbright Poland alumna Pamela Howland (1956-2021).

Fulbright Day: France – Postponed

** This event has been postponed and will be rescheduled in 2022. ** Join Fulbright France alumni experts, Columbia University researchers and Institute for Ideas and Imagination artists in an interactive exchange of ideas.

Fulbright Day: Uruguay – December 16

To celebrate Fulbright Program’s 75th Anniversary, the Fulbright Commission in Uruguay hosted an online event to present a short movie with the testimonies of US and Foreign grantees, board members and collaborators of the program.

Fulbright Day: Albania – December 2

During Albania’s Fulbright Day, which coincided with International Education Week, Public Affairs Officers Chad Twitty and Amanda Roberson delivered welcome remarks and highlighted the many contributions of Albanian Fulbright alumni in academia, where a large number hold leadership positions.  

Fulbright Day: Malaysia – December 7

On December 7, 2021, the Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE) celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Fulbright Program through a virtual open house entitled, “The Bridge: Fulbright @ 75.”

Fulbright Day: Turkmenistan – December 17

U.S. Embassy Ashgabat celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the world-renowned Fulbright Program. Alumni will have a chance to meet each other in person to network.

Fulbright Day: Peru – December 15

Celebrating the Fulbright Program’s 75th Anniversary, the Commission in Peru hosted a Facebook Live event with Fulbright alumni who discussed their participation in Fulbright Projects, a special initiative.

Fulbright Day: Sri Lanka – December 13

To celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the global Fulbright Program, the Fulbright Commission in Sri Lanka presented a virtual keynote address, “Connecting Crossing Boundaries and Imaging sans Structures: Reflections on Fulbright Experiences,” by Fulbright Alumnus and eminent scholar Prof. Gamini Keerawella.
