The Fulbright Program’s success is based on a sustained commitment to international bilateral partnerships and shared priorities. Throughout 2021, Fulbright Commissions, U.S. Embassies, Universities, and other Fulbright partners and supporters held Fulbright Days to celebrate the 75th anniversary with a wide and varied range of activities. In total, 66 countries and territories around the world celebrated the impact of Fulbright partnerships across the globe.
As the Mexico-U.S. Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange (COMEXUS) celebrates the Fulbright Program’s 75th Anniversary and its own 30th year of existence, November 10 served as “Fulbright Day” in Mexico! This day kicked off with interactive posts and stories on social media and ended with a Fulbright Anniversary Discussion Series (Conversatorios).
Fulbright Italy presented a panel titled, “Identity and searching for Black lives in the archives in the words of Lanitra Berger and Maaza Mengiste” with award-winning author and Fulbright alumna Maaza Mengiste, social justice advocate and award-winning scholar LaNitra Berger, and Fulbright Italy Board Member Timothy Martin.
For their Fulbright Day, the Fulbright Commission in Egypt (BFCE) hosted a special virtual alumni anniversary event titled “75 Years of Friendship and Exchange.”
Fulbright Brazil held an online Fulbright Day on 5 November 2021 with a livestreamed panel discussion focusing on Fulbright impact in the lives of Brazilian and US citizens.
To celebrate the 75th anniversary, and recognize 64 years of educational and cultural exchanges between Ireland and the U.S., the Fulbright Commission in Ireland and the U.S. Embassy in Ireland hosted a special in-person Fulbright Alumni evening.
For Fulbright Day: Austria, Fulbright Austria hosted a panel discussion to focus on the achievements of their programs and their alumni.
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Fulbright Program, U.S. Embassy Dhaka and Bangladeshi Fulbright alumni hosted a special two-day virtual conference titled “Celebrating 75 Years of Fulbright: U.S.-Bangladesh Together Towards Tomorrow” on October 27-28, 2021.
In two online events, in cooperation with colleagues from neighboring countries, the Czech Fulbright Commission introduced the stories of ETA alumni and cooperative work of a group of Czech and U.S. alumni in the field of arts.
On November 4, Fulbright Denmark’s Anniversary Symposium took place at Carlsberg Academy, Copenhagen. The symposium was titled “From Soft Diplomacy to Science Diplomacy.”
